Bravo! You nailed it. It is a publicity exercise. Nothing will change. The 311 response time is a perfect example, 3 to 4 days to get a response in 2020, now it is 14 to 30 days! Work from home is not working.
Unfortunatley for the city Mayor Sutcliffe is not a leader . What this city needs is a Mayor that takes control and actually runs the city, not one that attends every ribbon cutting while delegating critical decisions to senior staff. Mayor Sutcliffe is concentrating his efforts in one direction – ensuring Lansdowne 2 becomes a reality. He has failed to deliver on his previous election promises and seems to have abandoned them while he prepares for another attempt at winning the Mayor’s chair.
Well, it was the councilors who wanted to give more power to city staff, wasn’t it? So, what’s it gonna be?
If the budget balances itself I’m pretty sure the city of Ottawa can manage itself.
