LRT Running At Blair Station Now

This is a release from the City of Ottawa:

This email is to provide an update on the status of Line 1 service to Blair Station after a gas leak was discovered this morning due to damage from a collision not involving OC Transpo.

The gas leak from the damaged line has now been stopped, and we are able to safely resume rail service to Blair Station using one track. For customers this means that:

·                All Line 1 stations are open, with service at Blair Station on one platform

·                Customers travelling to and from Blair Station will need to transfer trains at St-Laurent Station

·                R1 bus service between St-Laurent and Blair stations will continue to provide supplemental service to help keep customers moving

·                E1 supplemental bus service will operate as normal during the afternoon commute

·                OC Transpo staff are at key locations across the transit system to assist customers

The gas line that was damaged provides fuel to the switch heaters in this area on Line 1. OC Transpo is working with Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) to determine the extent of the damage to the gas line and the required repairs. At this time, it is unclear how long repairs will take. Additional updates will be provided as more information on repairs becomes available.

We continue to share information with customers through social media, text messages, and station announcements. We thank customers for their patience as we work to safely restore full service to Blair Station.

Thank you,

Renée Amilcar

Just wondering if the “switch heaters” will be down because of lack of gas? Will that cause the switches to malfunction since it is rather COLD?
