LRT Suffers Major Disruption Friday Evening
This is a release from the City of Ottawa. It does not say how long service was interrupted:
—
The purpose of this email is to advise you that at approximately 6:30 pm, a power outage occurred affecting a portion of O-Train Line 1 between Tunney’s Pasture and Rideau stations. As a result:
Line 1 service continued to operate between Blair and uOttawa stations
R1 replacement bus service ran between Tunney’s Pasture and Hurdman stations
Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) were able to safely restore power and service has now resumed. RTM will conduct a review of the issue to determine what adjustments, if any, can be made. Any further updates will be provided at the next Transit Committee meeting.
R1 buses are completing final trips to accommodate customers. We continue to share updates with transit customers through social media, text alerts, web updates, and station announcements, and staff are present at key stations to support customers.
Thank you to our customers for their patience during this incident.
Thank you,
Troy Charter

LRT could not pay the hydro bill? due to lack of ridership which tends to lessen income? and the whole farce continues with uncompleted shoddy work?
These unexplained interuptions are all too frequent. From this statement it seems even RTM is unaware of the cause – RTM will conduct a review of the issue to determine what adjustments, if any, can be made. Any further updates will be provided at the next Transit Committee meeting. We can also assume that there won’t be any further updates and the committee will let it go at that.
Is it a coincidence that planned maintenace was scheduled for the following day? Could this be a move by RTM to get ahead of that planned maintenance? We will likely never know and yet RTM will continue to be paid.
