Maybe Gretzky Has Fleas: THE VOTER

The dislike of Americans, particularly American tourists, around the globe is nothing new.

I’ve travelled internationally to Europe and other places since my teens and always display a Canadian flag whenever possible whether on a backpack or a lapel pin. It never put me at a disadvantage and, especially in Holland and France, often resulted in a huge welcome.

Americans are often quite insular and seem to want to be in the U.S. wherever they travel. They stay in American hotel chains and eat at places like McDonald’s and are always amazed at how much other countries are just like home. They miss so much of the experience of travel as a result. No tavernas in Greece, no sidewalk cafes in France, no Nonna’s pasta in Italy – what kind of holiday is that?

I wonder how many of the people on the cruise out of Florida are MAGA-ites who have swallowed hook, line and sinker what the Orange One tells them. They must wonder how a Canadian can afford a cruise when we owe the $200 billion U.S..

Maybe someone needs to remind ex-hockey star and Trump friend Wayne Gretzky that you are known by the company you keep and also that when you lie down with dogs, you rise up with fleas.

    Bravo Madame The Voter …
It is highly unlikely anyone could or would say that any better.
Wonderful Wayne ain’t so wonderful anymore in any Canadian’s eyes.
    Grazie.

Ms. Voter. What? No wooden shoes and winged hats on your visits to Holland? As for Gretzky, I was concerned that Alex Ovechkin would break his record for the most goals by a player in NHL history. Now I’m hoping he does.

    Sisco,

My Dutch highlights were cheese, chocolate and Madurodam! I’ve been tempted to bring back wooden shoes for my niece a couple of times but my fear of her mother’s reaction always stopped me.

Are you sure you want Ovechkin, a Russian who is a friend of Putin, to be the one to push Gretsky out of the record books? Check his instagram at aleksandrovechkinofficial and see who’s featured in his profile picture.

Is there no Canadian who could do it? Even if he has to play hockey until he’s 50?

Don’t like hockey but did read the online fan reactions to the performance of Trump pal Gretzky at this event. Pathetic. Living the life of a millionaire in the States thumbing his nose at the people that bankrolled him.
