O-Train Suffers 2nd Major Outage In 3 Days
The purpose of this email is to advise you that O-Train Line 1 did not launch as planned between Tunney’s Pasture and Tremblay stations this morning due to a malfunction with the switch mechanism at the crossover near uOttawa Station. This prevented trains from launching to the west end of the line.
For customers this means that currently:
Line 1 trains are operating between Tunney’s Pasture and Rideau stations
R1 replacement bus service is running between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations

This is a release from the City of Ottawa;

OC Transpo and Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) are working on a plan to restore rail service in the area as quickly as possible. This incident is not related to the power disruption that occurred on Friday evening or to the ongoing Stage 2 East extension integration work.
Updates are being shared with transit customers through social media, text alerts, web updates, and station announcements, and staff are present at key stations to support customers.
Thank you,

Thanks to Troy Charter for keeping messages brief instead of using ChatGPT to pump out 1,000-word memos.
Over time , when it comes to the O Train, we have discovered that transparency is not the city’s forte. So for now, we will have to take Troy Charter’s word that this had nothing to do with the weekend’s scheduled shutdown. No doubt it will all be thrown into the blender and never mentioned again.
