Plante Creates A Paper Tiger
“To the residents of Rideau-Vanier: We have a housing crisis, [an] opioid crisis and a downtown truck problem. We do not have an emoji crisis,”
Rideau-Vanier Councillor Stephanie Plante
No one said there was an emoji crisis.
This is a classic paper-tiger argument. You set up a paper tiger, then knock it down. It is politics in its tricky form.
The only person having an emoji crisis is the councillor from Rideau-Vanier.
Though credit where credit is due. The phrase in kind of catchy.

One has to agree with the Integrity Commissioner when you read councillor Plante’s defence: 1. She has received much greater abuse than she dished out (I assume from members of the public, not councillors) and 2.Her comments are acceptable on X. Yikes! Do we really want X as the standard for our City councillors?! I hope we will hold our public representatives to a higher standard than X and angry nutters among our citizenry. She should apologize, take her very mild punishment and move on.
