Really? These cameras are in place to enforce the law that protect public safety. If you don’t like the fines DON’T SPEED!
I got a ticket once, since then I resist speeding and am mostly successful. It is NOT a tax grab, as the funds only go to road safety so council is not motivated to fund typical “tax” programs. Those breaking the law, like Doug’s friends, may call it a tax, but the rest of us do not.
Wow. What a response. Almost as bad as Ford who is doing everything he can to reduce the ability of Cities to raise funds and to create better and safer communities from trying to remove bike lanes, to privatize health and education, to centralize power over School Boards, to politicize the judicial system and the public sector, to stop citizen voice etc etc. He is trying to stop a significant source of financing used to end road fatalities and serious injuries, which in turn cost all of us in hospital response and rehab costs, increases to insurance costs. Many families fall into poverty when bread winners are killed or maimed.
