Stunt-Driving Charge Laid In Barrhaven Blitz

Ottawa Police conducted a major traffic enforcement blitz in Barrhaven this week, targeting late night, high-risk and high-speed drivers.

Officers patrolled main roads such as Greenbank and Strandherd. Highlights of charges include a driver going 137 km/h in a 70 zone (charged with stunt driving, unnecessary noise, no muffler, and fail to surrender insurance), going 142 km/h in an 80 zone on Greenbank Road (OPP helped with the stop and several other charges.

Finally, police are also monitoring residential areas, including intersections (stop signs) and local roads. I will continue to stay in contact with the OPS to pass on my appreciation for their work and to also reinforce the need for police presence in Barrhaven to address these issues …

This is a good reason to leave the Airport Parkway as it is, a two-lane north/south route. Add to this, the cost to do the work, the time required to do the work, and the disruptions caused by rerouting existing traffic.
