Having read Mark Sutcliffe’s article it’s obvious he is not a problem solver. Perhaps he is not a Bulldog reader either because the steps to solving problems have been discussed many times in the past. 1) state the problem we’re trying to solve, 2) state the desired result, 3) identify the root cause, 4) identify all the parameters 5) identify potential solutions, etc. As is so often the case in Ottawa, Sutcliffe begins at step 5) and my guess is my guess is he doesn’t have a clue what AI is or how it can be utilized. His article is a great example of why so many projects in Ottawa fail, someone unknowledgeable in an area pretends to be all-knowing, billions of dollars are allocated, then the always-expected belly-flop occurs. I’d love to be part of Sutcliffe’s committee. After he babbled on about the task force the first words out of my mouth would be “forget everything you just heard, this time our goal is to run a successful project”.

It would be useful to have the Terms of Reference for this task force so we can see what they have been charged with doing.

It should be standard practice to release the ToR including the assignment, timeframe and budget, when any task force, committee, commission or whatever they may call it is established by the City. That way, we can measure output against what the group was asked to do.
