The Bulldog Says Bonjour

The Bulldog has become bilingual.

Here at Bulldog World Headquarters we’re testing a program that translates this website into French and back into English. We believe this function will make The Bulldog the first local news website in both of Canada’s official languages. It befits the capital of Canada.

Just click on the orange button at the bottom right-hand corner of each page and then pick your language of choice. It’s on mobile, tablets and laptops.

This is still a test. We want your feedback on the quality of the product realizing that it is a computerized translation and thus international rather than national. The only way we can test it is by running it live. It will give us reader feedback and tests the technology.

Let’s see your feedback and try to do it in such a way that it doesn’t cause a national incident. Just click on the orange button in the bottom left-hand corner of each page to translate The Bulldog.

The Bulldog is proud and happy to serve the national capital region in both official languages.

If the Bulldog is targeting an international audience why not go whole hog? Oops, whole DOG! While Canada is trying to increase its audience worldwide to woo new trading partners, why not translate articles to German, Spanish, Portugese, Italian, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc, etc. The downside? Opening Ottawa’s inside and revealing its foibles to the world would be embarrassing and could scare potential suitors away.

    Sorry Howard:

I can’t imagine anyone in Portugal being interested in Ottawa except a couple of local tourists.

    cheers
