  1. The Voter says:

That’s ridiculous! The rules should be the same for everyone. I don’t have a problem with exceptions being granted in special circumstances but everybody has to have the same restrictions.

Their way, they could allow themselves to have fireworks on Canada Day but refuse permission to a community group in a park a few blocks away. The same would apply to them permitting themselves to do construction work, whether buildings or roads, after hours but requiring private construction companies to close up on the dot.

The disruption to the neighbours is the same regardless of who’s making the noise. I can’t think of any reason that would justify city-created noise that wouldn’t equally apply to a community group or private company. Who gets to decide the exemptions? At the very least, it should be someone outside the City that rules on their applications.

  2. Kosmo says:

Well this isn’t good news for the augural Bulldog Rock and Roll Festival.

Maybe we can make Tim “king of minor issues” Tierney Director of Small Things and get an exemption.

  3. The Voter says:

Oh no, Kosmo! If we hold it between 6 pm and 6 am, we can get the night mayor to ensure that a noise exemption is provided. It will give him something legitimate to do!

Although Tierney may be your man if you’re just after small things. I hear he only wants a nickle back.

I wish someone had told me about this.

    Hey Voter:

Tierney might just be the guy, he would help us stay on budget.
