Trump’s Diplomat Doesn’t Know Diplomacy

“Canadians staying home, that’s their business, you know. I don’t like it, but if that’s what they want to do, it’s fine. They want to ban American alcohol. That’s fine, There are reasons why the President and some of his team referred to Canada as being mean and nasty to deal with, OK, because of some of those steps.”

U.S. ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra

This is a diplomat? This is diplomatic language?

Canadians don’t need permission from the U.S. ambassador on what products they can buy or not buy. Canadians apparently should be happy that the ambassador will allow us to ban U.S. alcohol. He’s fine with that.

So U.S. president Donald Trump thinks Canada is mean and nasty to deal with. Trump invented mean and nasty. The president says he wants friendship with Canadians. Trump must think that 35-per-cent tariffs are a way of obtaining friendship. Not likely.

Trump just wants to be the big tough guy inside and outside his country. Meanwhile he can’t put together a cogent argument when he’s not lying.

So ambassador, when Canada needs advice on mean and nasty, we can just look south of the border. Or take advice from Trump’s toady in Ottawa.

And as for Canadians, continue being uncharacteristically nasty about what products you buy. Canadian is a good option.

It appear to be having an effect.

“Trump . . . . . can’t put together a cogent argument when he’s not lying.” WHAT??? Ken. If you want to have some real fun you have to start listening to Lawrence O’Donnell’s daily “Last Word” monologues. Oftentimes O’Donnell will quote Trump showing he isn’t even capable of forming a sentence. Personally, I don’t think Trump could spell CAT if you gave him with C and the T.
