When Do They Target Satirists And Journalists?

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.

With what has happened to comedians Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, this quote comes to mind.

These words are from a German pastor who felt guilty about remaining passive as terror took over Nazi Germany.

Today’s cancel culture is getting out-of-hand.

Perhaps the two comedians above should have been cautioned before they were dismissed? Maybe they were. It’s hard to know. Did their words merit dismissal?

This is how democracy declines and we are seeing it south of the border. What might happen before the next U.S. election … if there is one? There are troops on the streets of Washington.

We must take care this does not happen in Canada.
