Why The Cold Spring In Ottawa?

This spring has been miserable.

It has been cold and wet so often that it seems to be perpetual.

1. The jet stream usually travels west to east but this year, due to a low pressure area in southern Ontario, it is bringing Arctic air south;
2. Ottawa is located far from the Great Lakes so the moderating effect that Toronto gets is not felt here;
3. Wildfire smoke blocks out much sunlight so it can drop temperatures by as much as 3 degrees. C.

So now you know why all the lousy weather.
