Winterlude Has Massive Light Show
This is a release from Ottawa Tourism … note that this is a press release for a media event:
—

When: Friday, January 31, 2025, at 5 p.m.
Where: Confederation Park, Elgin St, Ottawa, Ontario
Who: Catherine Callary, Vice President, Destination Development, Ottawa Tourism and a respresentative from National Capital Commission
About the Event: The launch will feature remarks from representatives of Ottawa Tourism and the NCC, followed by the symbolic “plugging in” of the lights to mark the official opening of Lumen Eira at Confederation park.
Following the ceremony, the Winterlude Ice Hogs will invite attendees to walk with them to Sparks Street, where Canadian Heritage’s official Winterlude launch event will take place simultaneously, creating a seamless celebration of this special occasion.
Media Access: This is an in-person event. Media are invited to attend the opening speeches, after which there will be an opportunity for interviews with representatives from Ottawa Tourism and the NCC.
An example of a Lumen Light Show.

LOOOOOOL!! And us regular folks?
d — during winterlude — k
I’m with Donna – the public should be invited to the launch of this show. They could have held it as an open public event on the first evening of Winterlude. Is a demonstration “plugging-in” really a news-worthy event these days? How many of us are unfamiliar with how plugging things in works?
Maybe we, the unwashed, should crash the media event and explain how plugging in to your public works for the benefit of the powers-that-be!
Voter:
Who thought this would cause controversy? But it has.

“The launch will feature remarks from representatives of Ottawa Tourism and the NCC”. Does this mean the Nightmare will finally make a public appearance, likely dressed up in his Canadiens jersey and toque?
