Heads Must Roll At OPS: QUOTABLE

“CRITICAL: The finding represents a severe control deficiency, non-compliance or strategic risk/opportunity and requires an immediate remedy. If left uncorrected, this could have a catastrophic impact on the achievement of OPS’s strategic priorities, its ongoing business operations, including the risk of loss, asset misappropriation, data compromise or interruption, fines and penalties, increased regulatory scrutiny, or reputation damage.”

Audit of Project Management, Ottawa Police Service, by the city’s auditor general office

The term “critical” is used six times during the auditor general’s report on the OPS Project Management Audit.

The term “catastrophic” is used in reference to the critical situation outlined in the audit of project management.

Millions of dollars of overruns have occurred in the conduct of OPS business. And the words “critical” and “catastrophic” would be chosen carefully by an auditor general who would be more inclined to call hell tepid rather than damn hot. Those are tough words.
