Hill Says No To Councillor Salary Boost

Some Ottawa City Council colleagues are considering a motion to increase councillors’ wages for the remainder of the term.

I haven’t seen this motion, and this is not a priority to me. Council received a report from an independent third party several months ago that said our salaries were within a reasonable bracket.

It also isn’t lost on me how tariffs and federal government downsizing are affecting the community – everyone has tightened their belt these days and it is only right that mine is tight as well.

If this motion comes to council, I will vote no.

It’s great that Barrhaven West has a councillor with ethics, energy and brains.

  2. Ron Benn says:

David, I agree with your assessment of David Hill. The two councillors for Barrhaven (David Hill and Wilson Lo) are head and shoulders above most of the others who populate the council chambers.

David, Ron and Ken I respect your opinions, but as for crediting Hill as, ” a councillor with ethics and brains “, I can’t agree. Perhaps you are forgetting Hill’s lack of ethics and brains during the 2022 campaign, when he removed a rival’s campaign literature from a constituents mail box and replaced it with his own; all the while being recorded by a security camera. His handlers limited any damaging coverage in the press, and he was let off from further criticism when the story was dropped and after giving a public apology for his lapse of judgement . Hill may have some value at the council table but, Ethic and brains – I think not.

Bulldog, not sure if you can handled links yet, so a related CBC news article can be found by searching for David Hill campaign literature on October 13 2022

    Thank You, Been There.
