Transit Could Be Mayor’s Undoing: POTTER

By Evan H. Potter
Buried in one of my early columns in this newsletter is a hunch I continue to hold.
More than a few Ottawa councillors who would like to see Mayor Mark Sutcliffe become a one-term mayor would not mind if our transit system remained just broken enough in the public mind to keep voters grumbling all the way to election day.
Note that I am pointing to public perception here. I’m not suggesting that anyone is is acting in an unethical way.
No one is wishing for catastrophic failures, obviously. And no one is going to undermine the 10-point OC Transpo “Customer-First Action Plan” to improve transit service. That would be irresponsible. Everyone wants a transit system that works.
