Affordable housing is vital but Ottawa City Hall should be transparent about the costs.

Without any discussion or debate, city council approved a partnership agreement with Build Canada Homes (BCH) on April 22 to construct 2,000 mixed-income and affordable rental housing units on two surplus federal government properties.

The first is an 18-acre site at 1495 Heron Road, formerly used as a federal training centre. The second 6.5 acres in Wateridge Village, the former Canadian Forces Rockcliffe Base.
