What’s The Right Take On Kitts’ Comment?
The excerpt from Orleans South-Navan Councillor Catherine Kitts’ newsletter where she says that the performance of Ottawa’s light rail was “unacceptable” received overwhelming readership on The Bulldog and a blast on X.
People were concerned that as being on council, Kitts was part of the problem. Those same people interpreted the excerpt as distancing herself from responsibility for the wonky light rail. That’s what former mayor Jim Watson does when he’s asked about the light-rail situation. He says it’s frustrating to see the lack of progress on the file and that he hopes they get it straightened out. No blame attached.
X Readers Remind Kitts She Is The City
Maybe I’m slow but I didn’t get that impression from Kitts’ comment. She just said the situation surrounding light rail was ‘unacceptable’ without blaming anyone or taking responsibility.
Perhaps people could explain to me why I’m wrong because from the comments on X, it appears I am.

Councillour Kitts is strongly displaying fear of being UN-elected syndrome as is virtually all of council, to para-phrase that most useless of PM’s “because 2026 is an election year”
