That’s a place that can stare truth in the eye and say it’s wrong. Why “it’s on-time and on-budget.”
City hall has become an entity unto itself. The job of communications is to protect politicians and city staff not to inform the public.
High interest rates? Now is the time to borrow money to “improve” Lansdowne Park. Lansdowne has very little to do with the people of Ottawa but rather special interests.
It’s like … you pay your taxes and don’t bother your pretty heads about what we do with it.
City hall has been like this for 18 years. It serves itself … not you. It’s a sick political culture.
This political culture has been going on for so long that people there think this is the right way to do things. It’s not.
People have forgotten what democracy, freedom of information and public service really are.
It’s disappointing that, after so many years covering city hall, rather than seeing an improvement, the decline of that institution has been so pronounced.
Ottawa is not served well by its municipal government.
Look at light rail, the over-budget library, Lansdowne and now the ridiculous situation surrounding the e-buses.
Ottawa City Hall has institutionized stupidity.

Nice to see Graham throw out an observation that is common knowledge to anyone interested in the workings of the city. So if he is that concerned, why aren’t his local “investigative “ reporters asking the tough questions and following up with the staff and councillors we are employing? Simply asking questions gets us nowhere. We need the answers if we want to see changes.
The more lights that shine into the abyss, the less comfortable the people who prefer to work (and those who enable them) in self imposed darkness become.
CTV is (finally) turning its lights in the direction of city hall. How far behind will the CBC bureau be? As for the Citizen, they have all but turned their lights out.

It’s a damn shame what has happened there. When you think how a healthy government should work and then you see city hall, it’s very disappointing.
