For many organizations, ease of administration trumps operational effectiveness.

That’s part of the philosophy behind the work-at-home schedule.

One size fits all is a classic example of ease of administration. It allows a manager the opportunity to absolve themselves of responsibility while retaining a semblance of authority.

The thing about one size fits all is that everyone wants the ‘size’ to be their size – management, union, activist, individual … That their ‘size’ only fits them is just a coincidence. For anyone who is not that size? That is of no concern to the person or group that decides the ‘size’.

One size fits all is selfish approach. One that has been around forever, and likely will remain in use forever.
