Yes, Mr. Sutcliffe, Andy was a “visionary leader” and deeply devoted to his community. He knew this city inside out and understood municipal government well.
Although he and I respectfully disagreed on many things, he was always ready to discuss things and answer questions. He was, of course, always prepared to let me be wrong!
I wonder if Mark Sutcliffe took advantage of his knowledge and advice. I suspect not – had he done so, he might have avoided some of the ‘missteps’ he’s made and could have been a better mayor. It would have been a very good thing if some of that vision and a lot of that leadership had rubbed off.
