Refugees Need Warm Clothes For Winter

Matthew House Ottawa is seeking donations to support our community. Their furniture bank, located at 53-340 Legget Drive, urgently needs sofas and bedframes. They offer a pickup service for a small fee and can provide a tax gift receipt for furniture donations.
Their refugee services are also in need of winter clothing—coats, boots, and gloves—to prepare for the colder months. Since their homes are scattered across Ottawa, they can direct you to the nearest location for drop-offs. You can email info@matthewhouseottawa.org for more details.

They will need to also have an emergency plan when there is a power failure. That tent structure is going to cool off pretty damned quickly in power failures. The city will have to have about 10 buses racing for that structure every time the power goes out. Every Kanata power failure in the winter instantly becomes a life or death emergency. Wonder if they have thought of that…

They will have likely generators on-site for that very reason. I hear OC Transpo’s getting some generators in – maybe they could go together and see if they can get a discount for a large order.
