Residents Pay Twice For What They Don’t Want

It’s ludicrous that some residents are paying the salaries of councillors and planning staff through their property taxes then paying again through their community associations to fight the actions of those planners and councillors.

There is also an element of unfairness since some community associations, such as the Glebe and Centretown examples, do substantial work and accumulate costs related to city-wide issues such as Lansdowne.

It’s also the case that some communities have more resources, whether that’s expertise or finances, than others. We could balance that out somewhat by redistributing unearned salary money from councillors and staff.
