“Free parking ” is supposed to be a taxable benefit unless there is free street parking nearby. The Navy bases got nailed that way
Is Jeff Leiper considering the areas mentioned in this video for intensification? The structures will be close to urban transit, there would be lots of parking for residents, there’s lots of shopping within a 15-minute radius (not just massage parlours and pot shops). It seems that the city planning group could use some more creative thinkers within its ranks.

sisco, the northeast sector of Centrepointe, adjacent to the two city buildings, is zoned for up to 40 storeys for residential housing. On site parking is optional.
That looks like prime land for the City to contribute towards solving the housing shortage. If parking is an essential service for the staff at the Mary Pitt building, which the City purchased for a song not long ago, then build up with the first two floors reserved for parking. How many affordable rental units could be fit in that space?
Aside from it’s proxinity to the Baseline transit station, it’s wonderfully located for staff at Constellation, Ben Franklin Place and the College Square shopping centre as well as students and staff at Algonquin College.
