Crunch The Numbers On Tewin, Councillor: THE VOTER
We know that the price to the city of servicing the land will be horrendous and you have to add to that the ongoing cost in perpetuity of providing city services to that distant location. As one example, what will it cost annually to get OC Transpo buses out there even for a limited rush hour service?
I suppose part of the difference is that this council would have to confront the cost of closing it down while the future costs will fall on another council’s shoulders. It’s never too late or, for that matter, too early to do the right thing. Shut it down now, please, before you end up tossing more good money after bad. Although that is a hallmark of Ottawa City Council so why would they deviate now?

Just a suggestion from the perspective of sources and uses of funds. Take that Lansdowne 2.0 off ramp, thus eliminating the half-billion dollar and rising expenditure and use a fraction of it to purchase the Tewin land from Taggart et al. The city would likely be close to half a billion dollars ahead.
Just another way to accomplish indirectly what the city cannot accomplish directly.
Ron,
Very good solution and it solves two problems with one move! Plus it would allow Council to save face on both files and not look quite as completely incompetent.
