For The Love Of God, Not Watson: THE VOTER

The Voter takes on the unenviable task of setting Bulldog commentator Mike Patton straight on his musings of bringing back former mayor Jim Watson.

NO! NO! NO!

There is not and never will be anything going on in the City of Ottawa that could possibly justify bringing back former mayor Jim Watson. Never, ever, ever. You get yourself right back home, get out of that truck and go wash your mouth out with soap, young man. How could you even think such a thing never mind say it out loud? Are you trying to encourage Watson? Cuz it don’t take much …

You are totally correct that Mayor Mark Sutcliffe’s days are numbered and 2026 will undoubtedly see someone else in the mayor’s chair but Watson isn’t what we need to right the Ship of State. A lot of the problems we currently have can be traced in a direct line back to Watson and his cronies.

I’m not sure Sutcliffe ever really had a chance. Even if he’d been more competent and experienced, could he have dug his way out of the hole he started in? I’m not excusing him, by the way, just wondering if he could have been much better at dealing with the challenges. He was definitely the wrong person for the job at a time when we needed strong leadership. It’s unfortunate that the only way for us to be rid of him before the end of his term would be for him to see the writing on the wall and leave voluntarily.

I’m sure there’s a lot of buyers’ remorse among the group that recruited him and supported his mayoralty bid. But even they wouldn’t think the solution is to go back to the past and resurrect the architect of most of the recent disasters at the city.

Our task is not to return to the nightmare of the Watson days but to find someone who will be better able to take on the task of cleaning up the mess that is Ottawa City Hall. The bar hasn’t been set very high by these last two mayors but we need to far exceed that standard the next time.

I hope you weren’t being serious and were just trying to set the cat among the pigeons. Otherwise, I’ll be worrying about you …

I’m 100% in agreement. Watson was a problem for the city.

Jim Watson is a Trumpian figure in Ottawa. No matter what he does or has done in the past, the voters of Ottawa seem to idolize him. He has been out of office for 2 years now and his name should no longer be mentioned in discussions, but he keeps popping up again and again. Let’s finally ditch the creep!

Face the facts..had Watson ran in the last election, he would have been re elected.

Even Hubley was re elected. All the incumbents were re elected.

    Uncle! UNCLE! UNCLE.!!!!
