Night Mayor AWOL On Northern Lights: THE VOTER
Where’s the Night Mayor in all this Northern Lights business? Surely this would fall under his aegis.
Although maybe not since there’s no money to be made from the Northern Lights. They give their show for free. With a little imagination, though, he could turn this into an event. Some of those people might well go for a drink and a bite to eat after watching the show in a park. That would contribute to the night economy that he’s supposed to be working on.
The city could, I suppose, charge an admission fee to use their parks but then people would just find other places for free in the rural areas around the city – where, by the way, they’d get a better view since there’s less light pollution.
I wonder if any of those bylaw officers allowed their eyes to glance at the sky so they could take in the spectacle as they were rousting people out of the parks.

Aegis. Wow, what a word! Thanks. I’m going to have to figure out how to work it into my snarky comments. But you’re right of course, in these troubled economic times there’s nothing like promoting free nighttime entertainment, especially on a night as warm as tonight. While the southern United States battles hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc, we in Ottawa are blessed.
Sisco,
You’re very welcome! It’s a word I don’t often have the opportunity to employ so, please, put it to good use where you can. ;-)
Seriously??? Where is the “night mayor” ? Maybe in Montreal having a good time
because he doesn’t even know where Ottawa actually is. And to think that jerk is
getting paid. Can someone tell me what he is getting paid for???
