No Meeting Records Benefits City: THE VOTER

The city is recording all the time and will use those recordings as and when they see fit.

If nobody else has the same recordings, the city is free to present what happened or what was said in whatever manner they choose. You having an accurate record helps the city to be accurate as well and supports openness and transparency.

By recording, you are supporting residents by ensuring that both they and the city people that are there have a full and accurate accounting of the discussions which protects both sides.

Like many people, I’ve been at meetings and, when I saw the report or the minutes, I’ve wondered if the person creating them was in the same room. A recording independent of the city helps to keep things on the straight and narrow.

I’m not saying that every instance of mis-reporting is malicious. Sometimes you and I might hear the same thing but interpret it differently. A recording can help clear up such an occurrence.
