O-Train Down Again, Up Again

Just in time for public servants and students to get back to work, the O-Train goes down:

Mayor and Members of Council,

This email is to provide Council with an update on O-Train Line 1 service this morning.

Line 1 has now resumed full service between Blair and Tunney’s Pasture stations. R1 replacement bus service is wrapping up.

Line 1 began with normal service at 5am. At approximately 6:10 am, the Transit Operations Control Centre became aware of a malfunction in the camera systems on trains used by Rail Operators to safely depart stations. Cameras in some stations also experienced outages. These camera systems are a safety requirement ensuring the safety of customers in stations and the safe operation of trains.

OC Transpo deployed experienced staff to platforms in order to restore train service between Blair and Rideau Stations at 7:30am. Additional staff were deployed allowing service across the entire system to resume at approximately 8:15am.

Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) is investigating the camera system issue.

Throughout the morning, we have shared updates with customers on social media and through text messages.

OC Transpo recognizes this is challenging for our customers during the morning commute, and sincerely appreciates their?patience as we worked to restore full service as quickly.
