WITH THE VIDEO PREMIERE OF OUR NEWEST INITIATIVE

AN ANTI-RACISM WEB SERIES

“This journey towards justice may seem at only recently advanced with force and speed, but to truly understand the present we must know the history {…} For the glory of our stories die when we stay silent to wrong.”

Jamaal Amir Akbari, JustJamaal ThePoet, Award winning Spoken Word Poet & Featured Artist

Justice On Tap/Justice de cabaret is a six-part anti-racism educational web series, which is part of a larger project: Canada Speaks in Diverse Ways / Les voix du patrimoine / Aki Animitagozig.

The title, Justice on Tap, reflects the failed legal battle of Fred Christie who was denied service of a beer because he was Black – an experience that was upheld as legal by the Supreme Court of Canada in 1939 (Christie v. York).

The first completed video, “Christie vs York”, is available with the pilot trailer on the Odyssey Showcase site. The remaining five videos will be revealed at the premiere where all six videos will be shown (total of 50 minutes) before being made freely accessible through various media platforms in November. The evening will finish with a reception where guests can meet the artists and enjoy some great music with some of Ottawa’s “best artists” with Segue to Jazz.

While this event is freewe continue to seek donations, funding and corporate sponsors to develop and present innovative programs primarily targeted for student audiences. For more information: www.odysseyshowcase.org
