O-Train Line 1 – St-Laurent Station Tunnel Re-opens

This memo is to inform the Mayor and Members of Council that the further inspection and mitigation work of a section of the St-Laurent tunnel structure is complete and full service on O-Train Line 1 is resuming.

The Infrastructure and Water Services Department (IWSD) was able to work with a contractor to successfully complete the inspection of the area of concern. The inspection found some concrete delamination over the tracks that required minor chipping to remove loose concrete. This work has now been completed and the contractor is currently clearing the work area.

Once this is complete, IWSD will confirm that it is safe to resume operations on O-Trian Line 1. OC Transpo is working to restore O-Train service between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations by the start of the afternoon peak period, around approximately 3pm. R1 buses will complete final trips to ensure that all customers are accommodated.

OC Transpo and ISWD continue to collaborate to respond quickly to information from the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM) inspection. This detailed inspection of the tunnel structure is continuing and may require additional remedial works. An update on the inspection of the tunnel will be provided at an upcoming Transit Commission meeting.

OC Transpo appreciates the patience and understanding of our customers as we worked with IWSD to ensure that Line 1 continues to operate safely.

Transit customers are being updated on the resumption of Line 1 service through various communications channels, including customer alerts, octranspo.com, social media, and signage at Line 1 stations. Customers can use the Transit App or call 613- 560-5000 for assistance to plan trips in advance.
