The Future Of Ottawa Garbage
A Bulldog reader sent in this photo of a garbage bag on top of a City of Ottawa refuse station.
The fear with the new three-bag limit on home garbage is that rubbish will start appearing in parks, along roadsides and any other place people can get away with disposal.
The Bulldog reader feels this is the first of many such illegal refuse disposals we will see in the city:

They are already happening in Kanata. One neighbour challenged his neighbour when he started putting his garbage on other people’s property for garbage day. Dumping is already happening around city garbage containers and even on country roads.
Will the next bylaw include a discount for those who pit out much less than 3 bags? My neighbour puts out about one kitchen catcher every two weeks as do I, yet we pay the same as the 3 bagger!
Bruce. Might I suggest you set up a small business selling your unused 2 bags to neighbours who can’t, for some reason, stay within the limit. Two dollars a bag would net you over $100 for the year, a nice meal at a decent restaurant somewhere in town or $100 towards your annual tax bill to pay for a service you aren’t utilizing.
Another potential dumping spot is your councilor’s front lawn.
