A visionary, CITIZEN of Ottawa, well liked, even as a politician, and approachable. Bus rapid transit was well researched and implemented as a excellent function system and should have still been working today.I and many others who knew “Andy” will greatly miss him. Ottawa has lost one of a kind. R.I.P.
Thanks for the history lesson, Mike. I am a big fan of the transitway. It is unobtrusive and effectively moves OC Transpo riders quickly because it avoids stoplights. I’m not sure how much it is used today but once it is clear of bus traffic it would serve as an effective means for bicyclists to get around the city safely. And thank you Andy Hayden.
Why no laying-in-state at City Hall in the council chambers named after him? This would be a final acknowledgement and thank you for all he did for Nepean, the Region and the City of Ottawa. They may have turned it down but I hope it was at least offered to the family.
