Cullen Takes On Gower Walk-On Height Motion
Former councillor and community activist Alex Cullen responds to the city response on raising height limits in minor corridors.
This from X:
Need to remind folks that Cllr. Gower’s walk-on motion to increase height limits in minor corridors at a recent Council meeting occurred without public notice or input. In effect he sought to amend City’s recently approved Official Plan without due process. #ottcity https://t.co/u1DydRHuTj

Councillors need to remember that the procedures and processes that are in place are there to provide a structure to the decision making process. To act as checks and balances to counter political motivated decisions.
What Councillor Gower’s walk on motion, as supported by a majority of councillors, sent a clear message. Long established procedures will only be respected when they work in favour of the agenda. If/when those procedures get in the way, then they will be dismissed with the wave of a hand.
… and that Ron is correct and frightening. That flies in the face of the rule of law.
