I’ll Take Menard Over Hubley, Luloff: THE VOTER

Sometimes it’s good not to be the pretty boy at the head of the parade.

Capital councillor Shawn Menard seems to prefer to do the hard work to research and support his positions before he pronounces on anything. Others don’t even read the reports and recommendations that are put in front of them.

I think that, among the current crop of councillors and those in the recent past, I’d rather be Menard operating with thoroughness and integrity and perhaps not winning every battle than one of the vacuous, uninformed bobbleheads that follow the lead of others rather than put in the work and advance the city’s interests for the benefit of all.

I’ll take Menard anytime over the Luloffs and Hubleys of this world. It’s unfortunate that his efforts and his leadership aren’t acknowledged by the rest of his council colleagues. Their loss and, ultimately, ours too.
