What About Watson’s Testimony At LRT Inquiry?

Perhaps someone can explain how an entire feature (profile, puff piece) story on former mayor Jim Watson in the Ottawa Citizen can cover so much acreage and not touch on the most damning report in the modern history of municipal government in Ottawa.

That would be the report of the provincial Ottawa LRT inquiry that cut a swath through the bad behaviour of Ottawa officials responsible for that line.

The story did cover that the ex-mayor goes to Carlingwood Mall in the morning to have muffin. It mentions that he was invited to speak to the Kiwanis Club but unmentioned was there was a lot is dissention among the membership over whether of not Watson should come to speak.

What exactly is going on here?

Perhaps it was uncomfortable or impolite to inquire about the inquiry. Such is the nature of contemporary journalism.

Great call Ken, in the distant past, they would Tar and Feather a discraced “leader” such as this. The artistic licence taken by some editors/reporters to selectivly choose to ignore reality is a big problem!

Jim Watson is like Ottawa’s version of Donald Trump. Even when we’ve finally shed ourselves of him he keeps popping up in the news. And, heaven forbid, he might even return.
