Security Incident Stops O-Train Monday Morning

This is a release from the City of Ottawa:

Good afternoon Mayor and Council,

I am writing to provide you with an update on this morning’s security incident at Bayview Station.

At approximately 10:50 a.m., a train was held at Bayview Station due to a security incident involving a passenger who was assaulting customers. Rail service was temporarily held as OC Transpo’s Special Constables and Ottawa Police Service attended to the scene. To allow for Ottawa Police Service to conduct their investigation, rail service continued to operate between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations, but only served the westbound platforms of Bayview, Pimisi, and Lyon stations from approximately 11:00 a.m. until 12:10 p.m. During this time, some customers may have had to transfer to another train or experience increased wait times. We continue to support Ottawa Police Service in their investigation and thank all our emergency service partners, including our Special Constables, who quickly arrived on the scene.

The safety and security of our customers and employees is our top priority. OC Transpo has multiple safety programs in place to ensure our staff and customers can safely travel. If customers feel unsafe or need help, they can:

·       Approach a Special Constable or OC Transpo employee

·       Call Special Constables at 613-741-2478

·       Call Special Constables using the yellow emergency call boxes

·       Contact 9-1-1 if in an emergency

Info salad. Delays and diversion infos are important – ONLY at the time. Explanations and follow-ups are important – AFTERWARDS.

This sounds like the continuation of the incident(s) that started on a bus before getting to an LRT station.
