    Hey Pitbull Patton
Can’t disagree with your perspective on speeding through school zones. No excuse for citizens or bus operators.
However, I have to take exception with the alledged Red Light Running buses. From experience I can tell you that once those 40 or 60 foot red rockets enter an intersection the opertaors have to stay off or feather the brakes. Any attempt to heavy braking sends up to 100 customers flying into stantions and front windows particularly standees. This is why you often see bus operators slowly pushing tin through intersections as lights turn from yellow to red. Where the cameras would rarely tag a 12 foot car, they will catch an articulated bus simply because they take a long time to clear the same intersection. When O.C. Transit Supervisors see the results of panic bus braking it often involves 1st responders and multiple on board injuries.
    Just sayin’

Ken. Perhaps you could reconsider giving The Bulldog an unofficial subtitle “The Bulldog and The Pitbull”.

What’s the situation with other city-owned vehicles? Does the driver pay personally or does the City take care of it?

Most companies are very clear with their commercial drivers that any tickets/fines that they incur are their responsibility and that there could be negative consequences to their continued employment as a result. Even if the company, as the owner of the vehicle, pays the ticket up front, they will usually recover the cost from the employee.

What incentive does the bus driver or anyone else have to exercise caution and obey the law if someone else is going to absolve you of any consequences? It would be interesting to see how many of those tickets are for repeat offenders.
