Here’s how deeply the Old Boys (and Girls) Club is engrained in Mayor Mark Sutcliffe’s entourage.

People talk about how Sutcliffe brought in “seasoned hands” from the previous administration so he could hit the ground running when he stepped into his role as mayor.

It was clear to many of us who follow civic affairs that it was a great way for the Watsonites and their allies to retain control of the mayor’s office and ensure it didn’t wander too far from previous practices and priorities or ask too many questions.

That includes, of course, protecting former mayor Jim Watson’s legacy as well as the people who helped him bring his deeds to life which would include the Guest-Swail family.

The Voter is a respected community activist and long-time Bulldog commenter who prefers to keep her identity private.
