Sean Devine Is Not Devine: THE VOTER

Sean Devine as a candidate for mayor? That’s a joke, right?

Unless the idea is to get the Knoxdale-Merivale councillor to run for mayor and then he’s gone as a councillor and will then lose the mayoralty race so the result is we’re rid of him. That would be fine except that there’s no guarantee how he’d place or what the rest of the field would be like. What if he pulled a Larry O’Brien and actually became mayor?

I can see former journalist Joanne Chianello as mayor but I’d like her to do a term as a councillor first. Being mayor should not be an entry-level position and is definitely not a learn-on-the-job task. We’ve had two recent examples of that and Ottawa doesn’t need a third.

Can I suggest a campaign slogan for the never-Sean campaign? “Sean Devine is NOT divine.”
