    It occurred to me, having had to be downtown for a dental appointment, that we as a city could take advantage of the bus loads of anger venting protesters to help the city budget.

    Any bus entering the core with passengers who are not booked and with non-cancellable registrations for at least one night at an Ottawa hotel, should be charged an extraordinary transit tax of $375 per bus. If you get caught entering without the pass verifying pre-payment of the transit tax, your bus gets confiscated until a 2X fine is paid. This way legitimate tourism to Ottawa would not be affected.

    Of course city buses and OCDSB and Catholic and French language board scheduled school buses in transit would also be exempt.
