Cities Take Aim At The Drive-Thru Restaurant

Environmentalists are targeting the idling cars using drive-thru windows.

Soon you might have to park your car to get your morning java:

Not many U.S. cities have taken the radical step up prohibiting the development of drive-thru operations like fast food restaurants and coffee shops. Minneapolis ended drive-thru development in 2019, but the list of cities prioritizing traffic safety and air quality over driver convenience is relatively small.

Own A Home? It’s A ‘Ticking Time Bomb’

Now city planners in Golden, Colorado are considering an ordinance that would limit, or even ban, the development of drive-thrus in the city.

Is that Kitchissippi Councillor Jeff Leiper, the king of virtue signaling, getting an idea?

The Denver Post article on this topic has a paywall, but Planetizen has a summary of the story. You can read that by clicking here.

If one is infirmed and driving a handicapped vehicle is one expected to go through the process of getting in and out of the vehicle to get their nuggets?

It isn’t just about vehicles idling in line to pick up their order. It is also about traffic safety.

There is a Tim Horton’s on east bound Baseline, just east of Clyde that has vehicles lined up on Baseline in the mornings. Forcing vehicles, including buses, to either stop or shift lanes to get by, in a 60 kph zone.

A high school student could figure out the most likely outcome. That the city allowed the zoning /site plan that created this hazard is just another example of the gross incompetence that populates city hall.
