Developer Katasa Group Withdraws $300,000 Donation

 

The Ottawa Citizen is reporting that developer Katasa Group is withdrawing its controversial $300,000 donation to the City of Ottawa:

Developer Katasa Group is withdrawing a controversial $300,000 donation to the City of Ottawa, saying the debate around it “seems to be more political than community-oriented.”

The donation, which was negotiated by Capital Ward Coun. Shawn Menard, was first to have been used for traffic calming measures and affordable housing in the ward to offset the impact of a 22-storey highrise Katasa is building at the corner of Carling and Bronson avenues. But council voted to amend the unsigned agreement so that the money would be shared across all 24 wards.

    Will we hear next that they will be withdrawing the $1,000 that was generously donated to Mark Sutcliffe for his mayoralty campaign? The one the mayor claims to know nothing about but a community group was able to identify pretty quickly.
