Entire LRT System Closed Due To Safety Problem

This is a release from the City of Ottawa:

Sent on behalf of Renée Amilcar, General Manager, Transit Services Department

Good afternoon, Mayor and Members of Council,

This email is to notify you that, in an abundance of caution, Transit Services is immediately launching R1 service across Line 1, after a routine inspection revealed an issue with a bearing.

More information will be provided soon.

Many thanks,

Renée Amilcar

General Manager, Transit Services Department

City of Ottawa

The LEAST RELIABLE TRANSIT system has a safety problem? What not again? Closed for how long? Call it what it is,” Watson’s Folly” 70% compliance, rushed into service did anyone expect 100 % success and full service? Ottawa did not get what has been paid for

  2. Been There says:

Can’t she send these missives her self ?

  3. Bruce says:

Perhaps out of town on a job interview? or even vacation?

  4. Annette Goldenberg says:

There we go again. Could someone please tell me if there ever was a time that this so-called LRT actually ran for six months without a problem. I don’t think so. How come this doesn’t happen in Toronto, Montreal, New York, Chicago, and other large cities. Try and give a good excuse to this LRT can’t even run without a month without something happens to close all or part of it down. What a very sad state of affairs.

    Annette:

    Thank you for this.

The worst part of this is that for political expediency (and saving face), OC Transpo is sticking with this rolling stock despite the fact it is unsafe.

    cheers

  6. Ron Benn says:

The writer of the memo (… on behalf of Renee Amilcar) lacked the courage to state the obvious. It merely says that R1 service has been invoked. It is up to the reader to conclude that the LRT is not in service.

Clarity of message? Not a chance.
