Golf Security Guard Should Be Talking To A Judge
For those of you who missed leading Canadian golfer Adam Hadwin being tackled by a security guard at Nick Taylor’s historic victory at the Canadian Open, we provide the video evidence:
The tackle was vicious. Not only did the security guard hit Hadwin but he drove him into the ground. That’s a tackle that’s illegal in the National Football League.
What you have here is a man who should not have been on security at the Canadian Open. How could golf officials let that man near anyone who is a hair-trigger away from hurting someone very badly? Hadwin was lucky. A man who relies on his body in a delicate sport cannot be taking professional football hits.

And if the security guard doesn’t recognize Hadwin and what he was doing, well he’s not qualified to be working such an important job. Furthermore, and this is a minor issue, he embarrassed Canada and set back the joy of a remarkable Taylor win … as broadcasters were saying, that was a finish that was among the best, if not the best, in PGA golf that would stand for decades.
That security guard should be standing in front of a judge explaining his actions. And the police should facilitate that.
The guy was looking for trouble. Maybe a judge could explain that to the guard.

Nah, that was a pretty standard rugby tackle. He did not lead with his head. He landed beside, not on, Mr. Hadwin. No harm; no foul.
Sorry Gord:
With respect to your visual acumen and lack of leading with the head, the guard drove Hadwin into the ground.
Dem’s agin the rools. lol
And you a Fizz Ed teacher. Not good. lol
cheers and hope you are well

Horrible take. Security has to react instantaneously in these situations in case it is a stranger looking to cause harm to one of the players. Hadwin was in jeans with nothing identifying him as a fellow player.
Also, why you gotta be so negative about a happy story? 20 seconds later there’s a photo of Hadwin and the security guard, arm-in-arm, laughing it off. Both Hadwin and his wife have been joking about it on Twitter all day.
Context: Was personally at the event and literally no one did anything but have fun with it.
Bring that security to Ottawa and help tackle our garbage issue.
Kosmo:
Bring that security guard to Ottawa and see if he can tackle an Argo.
cheers
