Happy Canada Day From The Bulldog

 

By international comparisons, we have a pretty good country here.

Our standard of living is reasonably high. We have peace for the most part.

Our citizenry in so many fields punches above its weight. Unfortunately, Canada’s leadership leaves very much to be desired. The way our democracy works this country’s best people don’t run for office. You can hardly blame them. Politics is unforgiving and nasty.

So celebrate what we have today in a country whose people are much better than our betters.

One of the most moving ceremonies at a 2010 Olympics that changed our country (for the better) is in the video below. If you don’t want to battle the smoke or the people or the thunderstorms or taking a chance on the Confederation Line getting you to downtown and back, sit back to enjoy the moving opening ceremonies and hightlights of the excellent Vancouver games.
