I’m Just Madonna

Showman Ryan Gosling, a London, Ont. native, put on a show at last Sunday’s Oscars that even had legendary director Steven Spielberg shaking his head in wonderment.

I’m Just Ken will stand as one of the great moments in Oscar history.

The performance was based on the famous Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend film scene starring Marilyn Monroe. Gosling’s production even copied the tuxedos worn in the Monroe production. He wore pink. So did Monroe.

But Gosling wasn’t the only performer to draw inspiration from the Monroe piece.

Madonna also aped the legendary scene in her famous Material Girl video.

Notice that Madonna wears pink, the tuxedos worn by the dancers are almost copies of the ’50s version and she’s carried around the set like Monroe and even Gosling.

More amazing than the performances is the staying power of Monroe. She was the most famous woman in the world in the 1950s and remains an icon today.
