Intelligent Life Found On The Bulldog
This is a surprise to all of you to be sure.
And as you no doubt guessed already, it is artificial, not human, intelligence … except for all the columnists and bloggers and video types and stuff … they’re just smart.
Now The Bulldog is much faster loading to your device. This is an improvement.
Your Bulldog is on the cutting edge of a rather dull knife of technology. This is proven by a new program we’ve downloaded onto the site called Speculative Loading. What it does, kinda, is use artificial intelligence to predict what posts, pages and features you will click on and pre-loads them in the Chrome browser. It loads them in the browser only so you don’t need to worry about it taking up resources in your phone, tablet or laptop. Speculative Loading also pre-loads any feature, post … etc. … that you hover over to the browser.
Or as the builders of WordPress, the most popular website builder and used by The Bulldog, say, “By default, the plugin is configured to prerender WordPress frontend URLs when the user hovers over a relevant link.”
And if you understand that, please drop The Bulldog a line so the proprietor understands it, too. WordPress is the author of Speculative Loading. Anyway, a preloaded page loads lightning fast which is good for you.
This is not the first time The Bulldog has utilized AI. Security and other programs which you don’t want to know about also use AI on The Bulldog and have so for some time.
What this means in total is that The Bulldog loads damn fast. Strangely enough, this matters to you though you might not care. Studies show that if a website doesn’t load within three seconds, readers go somewhere else.
So a fast Bulldog matters to you, even if you don’t know it.
Now there are caveats here (as with most things). So far, Speculative Loading only works with Chrome version 121 and above. So what this means is that you need to download the latest version of Chrome, if you haven’t already, which is easy. You go to the three dots on the top right-hand corner of your Chrome page, go to Settings, then go to About Chrome. Chrome will automatically update your browser. Then you’re done. Bob’s your uncle.
The Bulldog has always recommended Chrome for readers because it’s the browser The Bulldog is built on and its fast. So you don’t get funny translations from other browsers when you call up The Bulldog. Chrome is used by 65 per cent of web viewers and all those others split up the rest.
So then you’re done. Update Chrome and you get a faster Bulldog and the other websites that use Speculative Loading will be faster, too.
People using ad-blockers might not be able to use Speculative Loading which just automatically does its thing without any effort from you … unless you must update your Chrome browser which is no big whup.
All other browsers will just ignore Speculative Loading.
So there you have it. You’ve got a faster and smarter Bulldog.

Artificial technology? I don’t think so! What you have described is a predictor, or speculative loader as you call it (I say tomatoh, you say tomahto), which makes decisions based on past behaviour. Many internet sites, eg. Amazon, use it already to determine which products to display on your monitor when it recognizes your IP address or signon info. But please let’s not use the term Artificial Intelligence, which has, in almost all cases, become a buzzword for technology that already exists and is based on data collection. Data is still what it’s all about, and people, i.e. programmers, are perfectly capable of doing what you have described using the data at hand.
And there I thought you were going to announce that a study had been done on the content of The Bulldog by some impressive academic institution and they had discovered that you and your commenters were “smarter than the avurrudge bear” (apologies to Yogi if that’s not spelled correctly!). And it turns out to be just some fancy computer gizmo that will save us a tiny bit of time when we’re loading things. Sheesh!
